Children’s passport countersignature?

Re children’s passports…does the passport office generally check the person who’s countersigned for you is on the ‘recognised professions’?

Not sure if they confirm every time but I've been asked to provide proof on headed paper a few years ago

Yes, usually. All of mine have been checked.
