Orthopedic surgery question

Hi. I have asked this question because it may not get replied to on the health topic. You all may think this is a daft question and I guess it may be but past experience is the reason I am asking. I had an operation a decade ago and had a spinal block. They allowed me to take in my music player to distract from the sounds and alleviate boredom! Tomorrow I am having orthopaedic surgery and another spinal block so I will need a distraction. I don't have a separate music player anymore so I would need to take in my phone. I could read or watch downloaded podcasts on silent. Do you think this would be allowed?

Yes i work in a surgical ward and the anaesthetists would allow this.

Thank you so much for this! I appreciate the response. I am actually quite afraid so being able to read etc would be excellent!
