I have been listening to the news this morning about child sex abuse in Rochdale, as another report, commissioned by Andy Burnham, has been released into the shortcomings. Lots of "lessons have been learned". But what shocked me was the number of victims who weren't originally investigated. There are currently 34 abusers in the charging system, 7 under investigation, and 74 child survivors weren't adequately followed up. 96 men are still deemed a risk to children.
Children were exploited, their cases weren't followed up, the main whistle-blower was seen as not following procedures and ignored. One child who gave evidence did not see her abuser prisoned and her house was later under attack from the perpetrators.
If the Post Office case makes you angry, this will make you apoplectic, whatever you already knew.
What's happening with our politicians, quango bosses, local authorities, police, NHS, etc etc. It's just one scandal after another, and this has been happening for decades, not just recently.
