I started watching Taskmaster a few weeks ago (on series 10 right now) and think I have a soft spot for Alex Horne. It's his looks during the tasks, the way he says "all the information's on the task" and the "banter" between him & Greg.

I see mumsnet posts about crushes on Greg all the time but no love for Alex. Anyone feel the same or is it literally just me ? 😄

I think he's lovely!

NeurodivergentBurnout · 15/01/2024 07:16

I have a massive crush on Little Alex Horne! You are not alone 🤣 He definitely flirts with the camera, especially during tasks! I posted about this before and there were a fair few posters in agreement.

StroppyTop · 15/01/2024 07:31

I’m with you @Gemzee. I heard him
on a podcast over lockdown (the parenting one with Rob thingy maybe) and the impression he gave about leaving everything to his wife made me think he was a twat. Not liked him since then.

Greg Davies, on the other hand…

I wouldn't actually want to be intimate with him, so it's not a crush I have, but a huge soft spot. He is a gem.

If you like Alex Horne you need to see him in the Horne Section we have seen him 2 years running at Carfest and he is always brilliant. This song had us all crying with laughter https://hornesection.bandcamp.com/track/grandaddy

@StroppyTop Just going back and listening to that now, I'd have heard it at the time as been a listener of Parenting hell since the beginning however I didn't really know of Alex then so can't remember it. My first thoughts are that it's his odd/sarcastic sense of humour (his comedy persona) but I'll report back 😄

Gemzee · 15/01/2024 08:03

@hahfn yeah I think I feel the same. Kind of just want to hang out with him (with him and Greg would be fun).

Gemzee · 15/01/2024 09:42

Having listened again to the Parenting Hell podcast I think it's slightly tongue in cheek/humour. He came accross fine to me 😊

OP posts:
StroppyTop · 15/01/2024 15:37

It was lockdown - I will concede I may have temporarily lost my sense of humour in my own parenting hell.

TheNoodlesIncident · 15/01/2024 15:53

I thought it was Josh Widdicombe who did that podcast with Rob Beckett? Not Alex Horne at all?

Tbf I didn't hear the podcast itself but I have read the book with the two aforementioned who wrote it...

DreadPirateRobots · 15/01/2024 15:56

Yeah I'm not feeling Greg, but I have a strange crush on Alex and his dadbod and his gnarly teeth and his apparent humiliation kink. I don't know why. I think it's how very dry he is. You know it's an extra good day on Taskmaster when Alex can no longer keep a straight face in the background.

I've also seen the Horne Section and it was silly and funny as hell.

DreadPirateRobots · 15/01/2024 15:56

I think the main reason that I can't feel anything for Greg is his age, his weight, and the fact that he's a smoker just says to me, there's gonna be ED. Unsexy.

Jijithecat · 15/01/2024 16:11

I had my mind blown the other day when I found out that Little Alex Horne isn't so little and is in fact six foot two. It's just that pretty much everyone else is little in comparison to Greg.

Gemzee · 15/01/2024 17:03

@TheNoodlesIncident it is, Alex was a guest on an episode 😊

OP posts:
Gemzee · 15/01/2024 17:03

@DreadPirateRobots yes it is absolutely how dry he is! Really appeals to me.

OP posts:
Gemzee · 15/01/2024 17:05

@Jijithecat it's so funny isn't it! The "little Alex Horne" thing makes me laugh so much! The little throne he sits on to 😄

OP posts:
Gemzee · 15/01/2024 17:07

I mean just on looks I find neither Greg nor Alex attractive, it's all in the personas/sense of humour. Alex is just a bit odd I think, which appeals to me 😆
His dry wit and his "banter" with Greg I just love!

@StroppyTop now that I can understand! My son was only 20 months during the first lockdown and we were in a small house which was not suitable for 2 people working from home and a toddler home from nursery!! (In one small living room as no office or spare bedroom). Stressful.

He's lovely, his stage show with his band is amazing

SuperSange · 15/01/2024 17:48

Oh Jesus that pea song. I've gone pink from laughing.

DreadPirateRobots · 15/01/2024 17:54

Would deffo recommend the Horne Section show to anyone who loves 1) language 2) silliness. I like a man who loves the English language and has a healthy sense of the absurd.

PepsiMaxLime · 15/01/2024 18:54

OP if you like comedy podcasts and Alex Horne, his episode of Off Menu is one of my favourites (as is Greg’s)

seenomore1579 · 15/01/2024 19:33

I love Alex Horne.
He actually received an honourary doctorate from the university of Warwick today.
I was at the graduation ceremony today for my brother and did not know that Alex was there until they announced his honourary doctorate.
He gave his acceptance speech in the style of a task on taskmaster, he opened a task which said that he had to say the entire thing without saying the letter 'f' he also had the timer it was pretty funny to watch as a fan of taskmaster.
I'll try to attach a picture.

I've just downloaded the podcast to listen to this episode, and I really can't see what you're getting at! He doesn't leave everything to his wife at all. Perhaps you should go and listen to it again?!
