What is this stinging pain?!

As I was taking off my pyjamas last night I suddenly felt a stinging pain in one spot on the back of my knee - assumed I was bitten by something, didn't think much of it. Anyway today it's still there, really stings whenever it is touched but there is no mark or bite whatsoever that I can see - not red or anything. What could it be?! It feels a bit like a wasp or bee sting but with no visible evidence of anything!

it might be nerve pain, I have a neuropathic thing and that sounds like the same pain.

I can't see what would have caused that! And it's in a very particular spot, I can literally feel it when I brush it lightly with my finger.

It does sound like a neuropathy or neuralgia thing going on. It can be idiopathic or many underlying causes.

A boil or spot brewing! Betcha!

A tiny splinter too small to see.

Fliopen · 14/01/2024 15:02

Can't see how I could possibly have got a splinter there to be honest, it's right in the crease of my knee and I haven't been near any wood

Could it be the start of shingles? Are you feeling run down? If the skin blisters then that might be it.

Other than feeling grotty from pregnancy I feel fine

Ah ha! You're pregnant
Could well be sciatica. The nerve runs down the back of the leg & can play up during pregnancy, more so as the pregnancy progresses. I had it and it went after I gave birth. Good luck op

Fliopen · 14/01/2024 16:08

I'm not pregnant enough for it to be sciatica, only 9 weeks. It's not like a shooting pain, it's literally like I've been stung and there's a barb in my leg - if I'm not touching it it doesn't hurt, it hurts when touched but there is nothing there.
