Thinking of booking to see this. If anyone has been, I’d appreciate your opinions.

We went with my then 5 year old and she sat absolutely mesmerised through the whole thing. We all absolutely loved it.

Coldpillows · 14/01/2024 13:14

I have with 18 year old DD, it was great!

Mumoff · 14/01/2024 13:15

It was AMAZING. Went for my birthday with a friend and will be going back with my son now he’s old enough!

Honestly? I didn’t love it. There were extra bits and songs that weren’t in the film which wasn’t what I expected. The singing was amazing though.

FuckYouEzekiel · 14/01/2024 13:35

We went last month, didnt enjoy it at all. Although the dress reveal was very clever. We normally love most shows we see.

FusionChefGeoff · 14/01/2024 13:35

Use the Disney Monday offers to try to get last minute seats for £30

Mumoftwo2022 · 14/01/2024 13:38

Went a couple of years ago and it was amazing! Wanting to go again this year. Samantha barks who is the original Elsa is back from maternity leave in Feb I believe. She’s amazing

RabbitsRock · 14/01/2024 13:46

Loved Samantha Barks in Les Mis

If you've seen any other big modern stage musicals, then Frozen is exactly what you would expect.

It's the film but on stage with some nice sets and occassional 'wow' set pieces like when she changes during let it go.

If you have a child that loves Frozen, then go and you'll all have a good time.

If you are asking because you are interested yourself, then unless you are a big Frozen fan then there are much better things to see - like Guys & Dolls at the Bridge Theatre.

TLDR: It's an entertaining spectacle like the film on stage. Enjoyable and good but probably only worth it if you or those you are taking are fans of Frozen.

The dress reveal was awesome. Very talented cast although I imagine it’s a different Elsa now as she was heavily pregnant when we saw it over the summer. Very well staged but I can’t say I enjoyed it. There were extra bits not in the movie including additional but not great songs and lots of odd really childish ‘jokes’. 6YO DD LOVED it though. Personally I’d do it if it’s a treat for frozen mad little one but if it’s for older kids, or yourself then choose something else.

equinoxprocess · 14/01/2024 13:52

The dress reveal? The bit where the person standing beneath/behind the steps pulls the outer dress off her?

That's a pretty common trick in stage productions, why is it a wow?

Heather37231 · 14/01/2024 13:54

I have exactly the same opinion as @midnightfeastfeats above, even down to Guys and Dolls being the best thing to see!

I saw Frozen with my nieces. We all know and love the film. It was a faultless stage replica, the dialogue is pretty much word-for-word. There are extra songs but they fit in well and nothing is missed out. The winter elf spirit rock people are done a bit differently as would be hard to see how they could be played on stage. The reindeer puppetry is very very impressive but he is only on stage in short bursts as the costume is so hard to perform in (look it up on You Tube).

It was good and the girls (9 and 12) loved it but compared to, say, Lion King stage play vs Lion King movie, felt a bit flat. Samantha Barks was great but played a fairly by-the-book Elsa. Ana was maybe a bit more self-deprecatingly high-comedy funny than the cartoon character.

Maybe it’s infectious being with kids who are seeing these “old tricks” for the first time?

Sceptre86 · 14/01/2024 14:15

I took my dd when she was 6 and it was amazing! We both really enjoyed it. Sets, costumes and singing all fab.

Yes very visibly pregnant! Kudos to her.

Universalsnail · 14/01/2024 14:22

It was honestly amazing. I loved it. Definitely go.

It’s a wow to a 6YO 🙄

ladygindiva · 14/01/2024 14:34

Took my 7yo twins a few weeks ago, we all loved it. Just perfect.

It was Samantha Barks when I went early December I'm sure . I didn't get a programme, so maybe I'm wrong but it looked like her!

No offence but isn't it a bit shit being this jaded? Of course it's a wow moment!

I went with my 4 year old and I think it was the best day of her entire life. Be warned that Let It Go comes at the end of the first half by which time many pre schoolers have fallen asleep on laps so miss the big number. There is a reprise at the end though!

Great for her but it must have confused the kids watching as you couldn’t exactly write it into the story!

RedFolder · 14/01/2024 14:38

i took my 6yo last year using Disney’s magic Mondays. The seats were excellent, second row of the circle I believe, right in the middle of the stage. My 6yo absolutely loved it and it was worth it just to see her excitement. For me, it was ok, not bad but not spectacular.

had it not been for the magic Monday tickets, the seats would have cost close to £300. Had I paid that, I would not have been happy with the show. But for 60 quid it was worth it.

ladygindiva · 14/01/2024 14:40

Realise now it wasn't Barks, but whoever she was, she was terrific 🤣 the whole show was

My mate was tipsy and giggling to herself about Elsa being a naughty girl. Kids I don’t think noticed, I certainly wasn’t going to say anything and ruin the magic 🤣
