It has many elements of motherland like school run politics but also a single mum trying to have another baby with her useless ex. I binged it in one sitting.

This thread has made me realise I watched an awful lot during my Mat Leave 🤣

I loved Mum too, with Lesley Manville. Speaking of her, also really enjoyed The Magpie Murders, and another is on its way too.
There was a series on BBC 3 set in Wales, about a school girl and her dysfunctional family, her friendships and navigating relationships, In Her Skin.

It’s not really similar, but I like all the shows you’ve listed and am enjoying ‘children ruin everything’ on Netflix.

I just finished watching "Such Brave Girls" with zero expectations and it was very funny. I'm also rewatching Kath & Kim, it's on netflix.

Another vote for Catastrophe: better than motherland

Another vote here for Children Ruin Everything (Netflix- 2 series and Canadian) great real sense of humour in the characters and storyline. Workin' Moms, you can see to its conclusion on Netflix, also Canadian and funny.

And "Here We Go" is a hilarious and solid favourite of mine.

Interesting as I got bored very quickly with it. Love LOVE Motherland but have found nothing remotely as good.

I really liked Fisk on Netflix. It's about an Australian lawyer and so funny.

Better Things is fab. Off to check where you can watch it
