WWYD - keeping gift

I was gifted something ages ago from a family member who I'm now NC with. The item was sentimental to them but I had an interest in. It is something I would feel terribly guilty in throwing away but I don't want it any more. I can't return it to them. What do I do with it?

Sell it or give it to charity shop

Why can’t you return it? Put it in the post or arrange return through a neutral party?

BaronessBomburst · 13/01/2024 14:33

Give it to someone else within your family.

New2024 · 13/01/2024 14:38

Definitely give it back - assuming NC means not in contact because you fell out with them.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 13/01/2024 14:39

Could you give it to another family member? Either to keep so it stays in the family or to pass on to them if possible.

You need to ask someone to be a middle man and ask the person if they would like it back otherwise you are disposing of it . Give them a deadline for deciding .

You need toreturn it.

Give it to another family member for them to keep or offer back to the giver.

Think MN recommended this post because we both have pinecone usernames and started WWYD posts about something gift related!!

What did you do?
