Potential Will Beneficiary - Advice Needed

A great aunt has recently passed away suddenly. She became very insular and did not have a lot of contact with anyone including her family (she did not have children, spouse etc.) and decided that she wanted a low key cremation. I had no idea she had passed away until a neighbour of hers informed us (they had my details as emergency contact).

However, she mentioned some time ago that myself and my sister would be left some money in her will. The difficulty is I have no idea who would be the keeper of the will, whether they have my up to date contact details etc. if my sister and I are still named in her will. Her late brother was the executor I believe. Is there anyway of finding more information out about this?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

It won’t be on the register until it’s gone through probate which it is unlikely to have done so if the death is recent. You need to find the will. Who lives nearby / had daily contact neighbours and friends etc might know. Ring the local solicitors nearest her to see if any of them have it stored.

There maybe no keeper of a will.
It could be in a drawer somewhere or lost.

Ask the neighbours, did she have a solicitor?
