Year round hot drinks* (Confused.com) Vs Meerkat movies (CompareThe Market.com) - which is the best?

Just renewing my home insurance and these 2 offer the best price (Admiral).
Just wondering if anyone else has compared the offers?

The year round hot drinks is actually just one free drink per month at Greggs ... not hugely exciting! There may be some other rewards at Shell or Halfords but not sure (as I'm confused.com :) Geddit!

Meerkat movies, I don't go to the cinema very often cos' it's so expensive and not sure I'll go on a Tuesday/Wed night!

Advise me wise people.

OP … you know you can buy a £1 travel insurance policy at each and have both? Wink

NewName24 · 13/01/2024 00:38

I had the movies for a year and never went - lots of reasons why I never go to the cinema normally, but figured I might if it were half price. But I never actually went.

Another year I went for the Greggs drinks so I did get 12 free drinks.

Obviously, in theory worth a lot less, but, for me it was something I actually used.

CellarCaller · 13/01/2024 09:39

Yeah, I have a Greggs a few minutes walk away so I might use that. Of course the Greggs doesn't have any seats so I'd have to sit on the benches nearby with the winos!

Meerkat isn't just movies.

It's also Meerkat Meals, and 25% off Caffè Nero - twice a day.

CellarCaller · 13/01/2024 09:53

Obviously part of the reason places like Caffe Nero take part in schemes like this is that people who wouldn't normally go there will give it a try.
I suspect I might fall for this and something that's meant to be saving me money will cost me more.

Possibly, but it's also people like me, who already spend money on coffee, that now actively go to Caffè Nero, rather than choosing Costa/Starbucks etc.

I get my coffee 25% cheaper. Win.

Azandme · 13/01/2024 10:09

25% off meals for up to 6 people is a big save when 6 go for breakfast on a Sunday too.

As with anything, the benefit of the "rewards" depend on what you do.

We rarely go to the cinema, but when we do it's on a Tues or Weds.

We drink coffee, so a discount is useful.

We like Sunday morning brunchy breakfasts with friends.

Meerkat works for us.

Agree @Azandme

We have a 'Rewards' scheme through work, which sounds attractive in the marketing, but the 10% off or whatever it is never compensates for the fact you can usually get the product cheaper elsewhere..... I think they give you 5% off a Sainsburys shop (when I last looked) which is obviously nice if you do your weekly shop in Sainsburys, but I spend a lot less than that doing my shop in Aldi, os it isn't worth the discount.
If, however, you only have a Sainsburys by you, then it would be very nice to make a saving every week.

Or, as previously said, they limit it to a time you can't go (eg the Meerkat Movies - I was already committed to something else on Wednesday evenings). Not their problem of course, but all the enticing offers only work for some people.

CellarCaller · 13/01/2024 14:44

So, I went with Confused as I was able to get £37 in cashback via Topcashback!
Now along with my monthly Greggs Hot drinks, I need to choose one of these.

The Car wash IMO are not near me and I rarely spend £20 in Halfords so it's the fuel or Hello Fresh.
Decisions, decisions!
