What to do with a bad take away?

babysensoryclass · 12/01/2024 20:35

I have just had a take away I ordered at 6pm. It was really late and apparently they didn't have my order print out from Deliveroo.

I have asked Deliveroo for a refund (who forfeits the money?) and they won't refund.

I thought about asking for a replacement but I don't trust the take away that they won't spit in my food.

So I called the take away saying how annoyed I was and than I hung up..... (I was on the verge of crying).

It's a local crap take away. I'm still hungry.

So do you complain about food?

What is wrong with it? If you’d just phoned and explained something was wrong and you wanted a replacement, why would they spit in your food?

NeptunaOfTheMermaidBattleSquadron · 12/01/2024 20:38

Er... food hygiene law? I've never worked at any food place where anyone spat in anyone's food, I think the whole concept was invented by Eminem.
But I'd leave a bad review and use JustEat next time as their customer service is quite good when you have any issues.

Getthethrowonthesofa · 12/01/2024 20:39

ok that’s all a bit much, what was wrong with it and why were you on the verge of crying and hanging up, is there a back story in terms of mental health or a condition?

MyLadyTheKingsMother · 12/01/2024 20:41

Are you ok op? Bit of an extreme reaction.
I'd dump it, try and get a refund and make myself a dissapointing sandwich.

Takeaways are usually mediocre anyway

Mimami · 12/01/2024 20:41

Just don't go back and eat something else now?

MadamVastra · 12/01/2024 20:41

Ah op come on now

Jessforless · 12/01/2024 20:41

I’ve worked in a couple of restaurants in my student years and I can confirm, I’ve never seen anyone spit in food. Even for the rudest customer.

what was wrong?

I’ve also had a terrible takeaway… allergic to peanuts, DC really wanted Thai and I phoned to say please can there be none and the pad Thai came absolutely laced with them. So disappointed as can’t even let my kids eat it.

what a waste!

I have no food in. I was all packed to go shopping with baby at 4.30 and needed feeding.... which took 45 mins. I didn't wave to get in traffic/just wanted a night of....

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 12/01/2024 20:52

Me, I'd hold a grudge for as long as they continued to trade.

But no, I don't complain at food places. I just don't return.

Food hygiene means squat. No one is looking, look at reddit/tik tok it happens.

babysensoryclass · 12/01/2024 20:55

Wedges where cold, box squashed, two different colour wedges, half where burnt, the box looked very weird, like it had changed colour.... maybe melted slightly due to the oil (it's the boxes of plastic you shouldn't use).

The pizza was warm by wedges freezing.... like they had been in the bin.

Food also took 2 hours since I ordered it. Apparently issue with Deliveroo order printing

babysensoryclass · 12/01/2024 20:55

Thing is, workers knew the food was below quality and still delivered it.

OP posts:
babysensoryclass · 12/01/2024 20:56

Why would I trust them.

OK, so...... Order a new meal from a different takeaway.

CantFindTheBeat · 12/01/2024 20:59

OP - do a live chat with Deliveroo tomorrow.
Tell them the food was inedible and they will refund you.

Our teens have ordered tonnes of Deliveroo over the last couple of years - we've requested refunds twice, both times Deliveroo said default no, then we did live chat and insisted and they were fine. It's part of their process.

They will first try to give you a Deliveroo credit, which you can accept if you want to, but I said no, I want a refund to my payment card, and they process it without bother.

CantFindTheBeat · 12/01/2024 21:00

And a big hug to you.

You've got a young baby.

It's easy to get emotional when you're tired and looking forward to something and it turns out shit xxx

SandyWaves · 12/01/2024 21:06

I would just stew on it for days....stew on it...stew? I'll get my coat 😉

SBHon · 12/01/2024 21:09

Use the refund procedure to get a refund from deliveroo. If they refuse ask again.

I’d be annoyed too.

cherrypickles · 12/01/2024 21:15

I'd be annoyed too. Takeaways is treat and expensive.

Go on the chat and get your money back OP!

I've in the sticks and had a Uber eats at an airport hotel and it was dreadful

Sounded ace bougie burger place, but it was cold and expensive. I just kind of expected to be cold and crap

Hipnotised · 12/01/2024 21:27

I never use Deliveroo or any of those delivery services, they wait to get the max orders by which time everything's cold.

If we can't collect we order from the place direct.
