What was everyone’s first memory of pop music. The first I think I recall on Mum and Dads record player was These boots are made for walking by Nancy Sinatra. The first I recall buying was The air that I breathe by The Hollies at the great expense of 35pence

My dad's 'American Graffiti' soundtrack - particularly Runaway by Del Shannon, See You in September by The Tempos and You're Sixteen (You're Beautiful and You're Mine) by Johnny Burnette.

Aside from that my mum's copy of 'Hunky Dory', especially Changed and Oh! You Pretty Things. And when The Beatles Live at the BBC came out and it was the first CD we got. I knew every track on that back to front and could talk along with all the spoken bits ("I'm John and I play the fool!") It was my first exposure to The Beatles and made me love them.

I remember my dad listening to The Everly Brothers, Elvis, Roy Orbison, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Gene Pitney, Neil Diamond, Perry Como. He used to let me stand on his feet and he'd dance me around the kitchen!
The first record I remember buying was On Top of the World by the Carpenters.
