Alternative to taking photos

I suffer from anxiety. I take a photo once something is done to be able to check later when worrying I havent done it. Think like turning off a switch or unplugging a hair dryer.
However I now cannot take the photos as they are not allowed in my new workplace I start next week.
What is an alternative method that could help?

Couldn't you just write it down or make a note and put a tick next to it?

I get similar anxieties. I now say to myself out loud "I have locked the door" rather than just doing it. Somehow its easier for me to remember saying it.

Have you been to GP? This sounds very much OCD rather than just anxiety. I'd try looking into CBT and other therapeutic methods to help manage the need to follow this compulsion and any other you may have. To answer your question, as a short-term solution to reduce the anxiety this provokes for you, perhaps a quick text to someone (aware of the problem) such as "I have turned off the light" could help, knowing they've received a confirmation at the time which they can use to 'prove' to you later that you've done it. Alternatively a note written to yourself (with time and date if that helps)? I hope you can find some help for yourself more long-term too.

Learn shorthand so that you can carry a small notebook and if anyone glances at it they won't easily know what you've written.

I’d go to the GP for some medication for this, maybe. As pp said it sounds like OCD. It must be exhausting for you to worry this much x
