Do you believe in Karma and the evil eye?

Just wondered if people believed/had any experiences with either or both..

No. You only have to look at the endless men in power who are morally bankrupt to see that people 'get away with it' all the time sadly.
(whether they're 'held accountable in a next life' is something none of us know)

AnneLovesGilbert · 11/01/2024 12:01

What do you mean?

Howcoldjesus · 11/01/2024 12:02

What is the evil eye?

What is the evil eye?

People interpret it differently. But to me the concept of it is a curse being brought by envy.

I've seen an increasing number of influencers putting the evil eye 'repellant' emoji on their bio, as if that is going to do anything 🤔.

Smartiepants79 · 11/01/2024 12:17

The evil eye - no.
Karma - to a point, often horrible people get their comeuppance eventually but not always. And bad things happen to good people so 🤷🏼‍♀️.

DocOck · 11/01/2024 12:20

No such thing as karma unfortunately. Some people may seem to get their comeuppance but bad things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people. It's just the luck of the draw.

catotangent · 11/01/2024 12:22

Evil eye Grin

Karma - there's no such thing.

Supersimkin2 · 11/01/2024 12:23

No.

NotInvisible · 11/01/2024 12:26

Yep

mamakoukla · 11/01/2024 12:31

Karma is inhabiting the world you create. Good and bad things happen to all people; but living a good or bad life, for want of a better description, will define who you are. If you strive for peace, you will find some peace as you work for that balance. But life is a mixed bag so it’s also about playing the hand you’re dealt. Life isn’t fair and it owes you nothing

CurlewKate · 11/01/2024 12:32

Evil eye-of course not.

Kharma - it depends why you mean.

NeptunaOfTheMermaidBattleSquadron · 11/01/2024 12:36

I think it depends on whether you mean karma - what it's actually supposed to be about in eastern philosophy or karma - the common western misconception of it as evidenced by comments on this thread about bad people "getting their comeuppance" in their lifetime with some proximity to the thing they did.

That's the karma I think OP means. Comeuppance for bad behaviour.

DocOck · 11/01/2024 12:38

Karma is something people like to use as a form of comfort when they've been wronged. You see it time and time again on threads for example where someone has cheated, or left to be with the OW or OM. "Karma will get them" "What goes around comes around" etc and actually, it really often doesn't. Because it's not a real thing. On the balance of things, we will all have some good and some bad things happen in our lives. Irrelevant of how 'good' or 'moral' you've been.

All the horrible people I know or have known are all just fine, as they put themselves from and centre of their lives. Never seen one instance of Karma in 60 years.

GalileoHumpkins · 11/01/2024 12:41

Is the evil eye like conjunctivitis, cos I've had that a few times 🤔

HairyToity · 11/01/2024 12:55

I have known people who don't care about what they'd consider "little people" and trample all over those they consider beneath them. Years/ decades later some of these trampled people have had an opportunity for revenge and taken it. Does that count as karma?

I once had a girl be utterly horrible to me at work. Years later when she applied for a job at an organisation I was at, I made sure she didn't get the position.

No, that's not karma. That's not something being served up by the universe. That's just revenge.

Seadreamers · 11/01/2024 13:10

I’d like to think karma was a thing, but no. Life has shown me, and from what I observe of others, that karma never catches up with those who it should.

Evil eye - never thought about it

GeidiPrimes · 11/01/2024 13:11

Karma just means action. All of our actions have consequences, and this is what gets interpreted as "bad karma" (bad actions).

I feel like we carry our own karma around in our psyche, based on our actions. People displaying arsehole behaviour, rarely get to experience inner peace. So although they appear to have swerved paying the piper, really they haven't.

Fight bollocks with bollocks.

Brosnan · 11/01/2024 13:20

I don't believe in karma because for that bad thing to have happened to you unjustly is not something I accept like, the notion of past life karma causing bad things to happen to babies. Where is Jimmy Savilles Karma?

However i come from a culture that believes in evil eye and I have to make a conscious decision not to fear it every time I pick up on envious looks or comments.i would wear and hang evil eye and hamsa because they look nice.

AndThatWasNY · 11/01/2024 13:22

Karma to a point. The cunts in this world, though may be rich are usually surrounded by cunts and are not actually happy despite outward appearances of wealth etc

IHS · 11/01/2024 15:28

I believe that we face judgement after our death.
