Would you complain about this?

On Tuesday I got my hair highlighted and cut. I'm from London but spending a week in Somerset, so not my usual hairdressers.

I was delighted with the results. My hair looks great, the woman doing it was friendly and chatty and seemed very experienced. Plus the price was very good. £100 for full head, wash cut and blow dry. My normal salon (high st suburban hairdressers, nothing fancy) would be £140.

However yesterday I noticed the top I was wearing was badly bleached around the neck. It's not a 'best' top but I liked it and felt comfortable in it.

On the one hand, she damaged my top, but otoh otherwise I'm happy with the service.

WWYD? complain or leave it?

I’d leave it. Most hairdressers warn you not to wear anything fancy, especially when dye or bleach is involved, for this very reason. It’s annoying but there’s always the risk of leak through.

This happened to me once; in a pretty nice maternity top. I had a bib and towel on and didn't think when I went. It left a half-moon-shaped bleach stain around the top that couldn't really be fixed at all.

I didn't complain; it's a bit of a hazard of having bleach on. Shame, but the bibs and things don't always work. She did a good job with your hair, so it's not like she was haphazard and did a rubbish job, and ruined your top in the process... I think that'd be more grounds for complaint.

I'd leave it.

That’s my thinking. I’m happy with the hair and price, it was a risk I took.

I wouldn't bother in this instance. I don't wear nice things to the salon on the rare occasions I have a colour/highlights.

Can you dylon dye the top black/dark to refresh it?

I think if she took reasonable care and overall did a good job then I'd leave it as just one of those things.
