I'm in need of some suggestions for raising money for a charity I'm doing an event for, I have raised part of the amount I need too, but need to raise the rest - has anyone got any good ideas they can share with me please?

It all depends on target audience and what the fundraising is for!
A sponsored read is good for schoolchildren, but not going to work with 50 year old men in a social club!
We need more info.

Charity Fashion Show in a village hall is a good one if you have a suitable retailer in the area - they sell to the audience after the show and you get a cut.

Coffee morning

Sponsored walk

Race Night

Quiz night

See if local pub will let you put one of the oversized empty whisky bottles on the bar for donations and label it.

Organise a jumble sale/craft fair/Spring fair.

Organise a ball/dance/ceilidh.

If you're going to go to the effort of organising something go big as it's just as much effort as something smaller really. Sell tickets online in advance. Make buying tickets as easy as possible. Once someone has a ticket they're far more likely to turn up, even if it's cold/raining, etc and if they choose not to come you've got their money. You can offer a discount on advance tickets to encourage people to buy.

Hold a raffle at every fundraising event. Ask for donations of raffle prizes from people you know/groups you're in to support you and put them together to make two or three hampers rather than raffling lots of bits.
