Move your body

Good morning.

I've noticed the phrase 'move your body' being increasingly used to replace the word exercise.

Has anyone else noticed this? Is it new? Is it American?

I find it annoying but I don't know why.

I think it’s a good phrase. It’s a way to encourage people with a sedentary lifestyle and low base level of fitness to start some sort of physical activity in a non-daunting, safe way and build up to more strenuous exercise gradually.

Exercising isn’t defined by busting a gut in the gym or running a marathon and I think that’s the point they’re trying to make.
