Is it alright to take Nytol for more than one night?

Had a couple of terrible (nearly no) sleep nights a few nights ago. Took Nytol last night and had 8 hours - felt much better today. I know I have still have two working days ahead of me. The pharmacist said not to take it for more than two nights a week as you can become reliant on it but I don’t know how much of a ‘thing’ this is. Does anyone have any experience of it?

I felt really groggy when I woke up but after an hour or so I felt better!

It’s fine. Read the leaflet and the box, or look at their website for details of how and when to take.

The pharmacist has studied for several years to be qualified to dispense medications and be an expert on their safe use.

So you thought you'd see if random MN posters would do a better job?

Well, in this instance the pharmacist is talking rubbish.

Read the label and the box

Yes, because the box contradicts what the pharmacist said as PPs have pointed out so I wanted to see what people’s real life experiences were with taking it.

I take half a nytol about twice a week, 2 weeks a months. Have done for about a year and feel fine. Of course everyone is different....
