How much do you spend?

We thought we could get away with spending £100 a week but we seem to be going over that every week. We’re also terrible for just nipping out and buying as we need from local coop (bloody expensive) and grabbing occasional (too occasional really) fast food.

I’m seriously cracking down on our spending this year. We’re supposed to have £1200 left over as fun money after all bills and food has been paid for but we’re ending up with nothing at the end of the month and feeling like we’re living in real poverty when we’re clearly not! I think a lot of it’s being utterly wasted on food, fast food, take aways.. and I know I’m also an issue I’m a certified shopaholic and am constantly changing furniture/house items which needs to stop.

Anyway, food budget. What’s realistic for a family of 4, children are 2 and 4 so although their meal portions aren’t massive.. the amount of snacks and primarily cheese and fruit they get through is wild 😂

I’m thinking £120 cash a week into weekly envelopes and we take that shopping and that’s our budget. If we have any change then it gets put into a take away/fast food pot as a treat at the end of the month.

I have a £50 - £60 delivery every 3 to 4 days, so we never run out of anything negating thr need to run to the shops.
A LOT of that seems to go on fruit and snacks as well, that's life with small dc I think.
