Parcel delivered to me in error. WWYD?

Back in early December, I received a parcel from Ted Baker that was addressed to my house number/street and postcode but was addressed to someone with apparently the same house number/street but in a different town.

I opened the parcel to see if there was any return info - there was no paperwork whatsoever. There were 3 items in the parcel.

The next day, I contacted Ted Baker and explained the mix-up. The customer services chap managed to find out where the delivery should have gone, said he would contact the customer, and get back to me.

He called back later that day. Said he had been in touch with the customer who had thanked me for phoning etc. He then said an enquiry would be raised with the courier and it was LIKELY that the parcel would be collected by the courier for return to Ted Baker.

One month on, nothing has happened. I don't think I should have to do any chasing up of this as I did my best when I first received the parcel. Can I keep these items now?

I think they've probably compensated the person by now

I'd keep for 6 months just in case, if nobody has collected it by then I'd consider it mine.

Legally they have six years to recover the parcel or the cost from you. Realistically they're unlikely to claim it after that long, it'd probably be unlikely to be worth the cost, but I'd send a complaint and try and get it in writing that you can keep/dispose it.
