And dentists about?

I have been in pain since 1 Jan. Yesterday I had a partial root canal done on a wisdom tooth that has irreversible pulpitus. The dentist said the tooth nerve should die off and then will be removed.

My appointment was at 10:30, all fine until 6pm then pain returned. Then around 9pm out of nowhere the pain went full on, like the nerve was exposed. It was so bad I was shouting out loud. This went on and off all night. 111 could not do anything and out of hours dentist had no appointments.

My question is, is the worsening of bad pain to extreme pain normal? Should I go back to my dentist?

Also any suggestions on pain relief. I've been doing cocodomal and ibruprfen for 10 days now.

Thanks

For pain relief paracetamol and ibuprofen. You can take them together or you can take paracetamol then ibuprofen 2 hours later then paracetamol 2 hours after that so you’re getting some pain relief every 2 hours. Don’t exceed the daily dose. If it’s still bad tomorrow call your dentist for an emergency appointment, tooth may need further cleaning. Most cases settle after the first stage but some don’t.
