Has your year 11 had their nose pierced?

And did the school ask them to remove? It doesn't explicitly say no nose piercings on uniform policy but jewellery policy states just one pair earrings. However, there has been no request to remove second piercings/ necklace / bracelets galore . And of course she states 'everyone has nose piercings and no teachers care'. I just don't want her to waste her money and be asked to remove it before it's due, and wondered what experience others have had.

Every school is different but I'd be amazed if they didn't make her take it out (or in some schools isolate her until it had healed) citing health and safety. Certainly in all the schools I've worked in this would be the case. She's only got a few months left and colleges are often more relaxed so wait until after her exams.

Yes my dd has - in year 11

very popular atm to have it done - simply popped in a clear one for at school

I know there was a few weeks at first when you couldn’t remove it - maybe Easter holidays would be a good time ?

really you will have to ask your individual school if they have a problem with it.

as a member of school staff I normally only challenge dangling piercings-ones that could be pulled ect

Every school is different. They would be asked to remove at ours.

Best wait until finish school, you need to leave it 6-8 weeks before you can change the stud/ring (most teens have them done in summer holidays for this reason, I had mine done back in the 90s)

Not allowed at ours and I forbade any piercings other than ears until 16.. although my dds are late Spring babies so easier.

Ok thanks. It is helpful to read teachers' perspective too..thanks. I will see if she can hold off until Easter.

My DD waited until her last GCSE exam was over. It was an incentive to work hard for her too - I paid for it as a well done for working so hard.
Sixth Form is much more relaxed so it's fine now.

I was in year ten when I got mine done over the summer holidays. Had to take it out for school every day and I think because of that it took years to fully heal. So that’s also something to consider. I’ve had it for 20 years now and I still love it, if I could go back I’d wait that extra year until school was over, but it seemed to matter so much back then to get it done as soon as possible. So I understand trying to persuade her to wait will be hard!

You'd get a day in inclusion for having one at my school.
