It's a separate message so not within the group. Admin would have no way to see.

Thanks all, I just panicked because the person I texted still apparently hasn't read the msg but her sister text me a response which is fine as they will have been talking and in this scenario it's fine. I just suddenly panicked that all

You can't send someone a private message in a WhatsApp group. Do you mean you're in a group with them and then separately messaged them on WhatsApp 1 to 1 as normal?

Yes you can message them in a group and no admin can't see it.

From what I understand this doesn't mean you are messaging them privately within the group as such but simply getting their contact details from the group and then sending a seperate message. But I get what you mean - just may be misunderstood!
