Hi mums, I have ten month old twins who are very good at independent play. They go down on the carpet with their toys are play together and separately quite happily. Now I’m not for one minute saying I don’t interact with them, I do but I do let them play and figure things out themselves. I read a bloody article over the weekend that said that independent play in neglectful 😳 do any of you think theses truth in that?

It sounds like you're doing a brilliant job in providing a really engaging enviros them so they can play independently and with each other.
It's incredibly beneficial for them to problem solve and be creative using their own ideas.

There's an article here which may reassure you. But I'm sure there'll be clingy and crazy times too, just enjoy this time where your DC are happy to entertain themselves.

Hey, Mom of four year old twins here. It won't last. This "were so lovely and play so nicely" will soon require a full time referee that includes phrases like "do not lick your <brother>, no no NO we do not put that up each others noses, can you PLEASE get off him,do not trump on his head etc.

As long as you are spending some time talking, playing, interacting with them,I say e joy the peace.

Independent play is very important for kids development. Obviously it depends on what the kids are doing during 'independent play' but it sounds like what you are doing is great. Kids need to figure things out themselves. There's been some interesting stuff written recently (sorry haven't got the links) about the 'harm' helicopter parenting does- so don't worry, there will always be some 'expert' waiting in the wings to tell us we are doing it wrong 🤣

We’ve a bit of that already!!! One will steal a toy that he has absolutely no interest in simply because his brother has it 🤦‍♀️ or climb on him, or me while I’m trying to change a bum 😂
