I've developed a slightly achy feeling at the bottom part of my thumb. It's not painful as such but nore of an ache that I'm aware of when I use pressure on it ie use the hoover etc. any ideas what could be the issue ?

I was wondering if that was the cause. How long have you had it? Mine is strangely on ny left hand (I'm right handed)

Late 50’s and 3 years ago out of the blue I noticed that the back of my hand was swollen with fluid and my wrist had limited movement. Covid then struck and I put off seeing the doctor. I then started having electric shock type pains between my thumb and first finger and I developed classic carpal tunnel symptoms.
I did my own research and for the last 2 years have been wearing splints on my wrists in bed. This was a game changer for me as it stopped the stiff swollen fingers in the morning and has significantly reduced numbness and pins and needles in my hands.
Appointments eventually came through and it was confirmed via X-ray that I have arthritis in thumbs and wrists.
Carpal tunnel came back as slight but the person testing stated that it would have been interesting to test me before I started using the splints.
whilst the splints are mainly for carpal tunnel, I find that they help the arthritis as well as it stops my wrists bending whilst sleeping. I find that my wrists can lock if I use them in certain positions. My thumbs ache now and again, especially if writing because of the bent angle of my thumb holding the pen. I also have difficulty lifting heavy objects and opening jars!
I hope this helps, it’s my experience, of course you could have something totally different.
