Advice on what I need when baking bread

So I’ve taken up bread making, using a bread maker. All well except for when I slice it .
i can’t get uniform slices for sandwiches and end up with crumbs everywhere .

Any suggestions ?

I'm not an expert but I would think it's because it's really fresh bread. Warburton's/Hovis etc has been sliced and has additives to keep it all together.

You can get a type of board/item that you place the loaf on and it keeps the slices more uniform. I've seen them but don't know what they're called.

Haven't tried this myself but I'm wondering if you popped it in the freezer for half an hour maybe it would be easier?

Let it cool completely, and put it upside down when slicing (weird but it helps me). Ofc make sure your bread knife's good and sharp etc. and the rest is just practice!

What ingredients are you using?

I was in the same boat as you and bought a new bread knife and it's now a billion times easier! I got this one...

Cut it upside down. It'll cut a lot better that way. I made gluten free bread the other day and found that was the best way to cut it. Now I just need to find a way to keep it from going stale after a day.

Make sure it’s completely cooled. Get a decent bread knife. I bought an Opinel knife and it even slices through sourdough easily.
