Allergic to pillows?

I wake up every morning with a blocked or streaming nose, which improves once I get up. I’m allergic to dust and animal hair so I suspect my pillows are setting me off. I have fairly old pillows, so can’t remember what they’re made of, but I know they’re not feather.

Can anyone recommend an anti-allergic pillow that is effective?

Any new synthetic pillow will be a big improvement. Old ones get dust mites etc that can trigger the allergies.

My dd is seeing a specialist about her allergies and she told me to replace her pillows every SIX MONTHS! I almost fainted.

Six months! Crikey. I see that some pillows can be put in the washing machine so perhaps I’ll get one of those.

I also have a cat who creeps onto my bed when I’m at work, which probably doesn’t help! I need to remember to shut my bedroom door.

That's just what my dd is reacting to. House dust and cats. We don't have a cat but we have relatives with cats.

Are your pillows in pillow protectors? You can get zipped ones.

I have a dust allergy it sucks, I have to change my pillow every 3 months or I'm sick. I take allevia everyday also.

Another dust allergy here (amongst others).

I had to change my pillows all the time but I got some memory foam ones and they seem to be a lot better. I've had these about 18 months.

Old pillows are a nightmare. Are they feather - that's even worse.

I now have a wool pillow and it's awesome.
