And reasonably gripping to appease my minimal attention span. Open.to suggestions, like documentaries, true crime, gritty drama. But also other stuff.

Fake Profile

It's absolutely brilliant!

I just watched and enjoyed:

The Maid
Who is Erin Carter
The Fall of the House of Usher

Salome61 · 07/01/2024 00:54

I've just finished watching Virgin River - do read the synopsis before watching.

PossumintheHouse · 07/01/2024 01:02

Fool Me Once is so absolutely shit! What am I missing?! Main character can’t act, even Joanna Lumley was bollocks. Don’t waste your time, OP.

Beetlebumz · 07/01/2024 01:10

Agree! So stupid, sooo many plot holes and awful script. Didn’t care what happened to any of the characters. Avoid!

All The Light We Cannot See, if you can get past Mark Ruffalo’s peculiar accent…

Just finished Leave the world behind, twas good but nearly two half hours long.

I be watched first hour or so and enjoying so far. It's very unnerving.

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 07/01/2024 11:28

Yes - the music feels very Hitchcock-esque and it's refreshing to watch a take on the apocalypse where people don't magically turn into survivalists and don't have the foggiest what's going on. That would definitely be me Grin

yellowsmileyface · 07/01/2024 11:41

I've recently finished Inside Man which was good (it's a short 4 episode drama, quite gripping with lots of twists and turns. There's also a separate film of the same name so make sure it's the series if anyone decides to check it out!)

I've also just finished the first season of The OA ( a little late to the game!) which I found a bit slow to start, but stuck with it and it's become more gripping and interesting.

Blue0987 · 07/01/2024 11:43

Movies: Society of the snow and Leave the world behind

series: at the moment I am watching Fool
me once but there is lots

LadyWhitwell · 07/01/2024 11:47

If you like stress free comedy , the Duchess with Katharine Ryan is hilarious. I wish they would do another season

I agree. Too much going on. It was shit. Actually I hate all Harlen Corben work, try too hard to be clever

TiaSeeya · 07/01/2024 12:11

Fool me Once was awful. I binged it, and like chocolate it was good to start with but then curdled with overconsumption. Really disappointing end.

Lots of stuff on Netflix atm is meh, it goes off (looking at you, Sex Education).

I liked Heartstopper, some seasons of the Crown, Queens Gambit and Schitts Creek but struggling to think of much beyond that.

IMO the best stuff of the past 5 years or so hasn’t been Netflix.

Succession on Sky/NOW
Chernobyl on Sky/NOW
The Last of Us on Sky/NOW
Slow Horses and the Morning Show on Apple
His Dark Materials on BBC

I don't know why I keep watching them! I've read a couple of the books, and so far, so unbelievable, but they are atrocious generally as adaptations.
I give you the ridiculous ballroom dancers on Stay Close (as well as the eleventy billion plotholes in it) and will try and remind myself of it before I go "oooh yet another HC on Netflix, bound to be great!" It never, ever is.

It's worth getting Apple TV for a month solely for binging Slow Horses. Absolutely superb.---- Possibly the best tv I've watched in a while
