I'm crying, like properly crying, at Poirot dying!

I mean it's not like I didn't know he died. And it's not like I don't know he's a fictional character. I even think that maybe (can't quite remember) he's not properly dead in this programme but seeing Captain Hastings, Miss Lemon and Assistant Commissioner Japp as older versions of themselves Is making me cry!

I did too.

Oh good!

Cautiously asking if you're watching "Curtain"?

What are you watching? Why aren't I watching it?

StJulian2023 · 06/01/2024 20:43

Oh no! I can’t watch whatever this is, I won’t cope!!

Yes I made the mistake of watching Curtain - as if I hadn't cried enough at the previous episode!

I didn't know he died! I thought Poirot just went on forever. Not sure I'll watch as I don't think I'll be able to deal with it. I'm still not over Inspector Morse!

TheDandyLion · 07/01/2024 00:03

@HPLikecraft does Morse die?😮😮

mondaytosunday · 07/01/2024 00:30

@TheDandyLion afraid so, the very last episode!

daisydalrymple · 07/01/2024 00:40

i remember reading curtain 15 years ago. I’m an avid Agatha Christie fan. But I had no clue he dies! It was the most distressing read of my life 😢😢😢 I’ve read and reread AC for the last 30 years. But have never been able to reread that book.

Kittensat36 · 07/01/2024 00:52

Poirot was the first (or possibly only - can't quite remember) fictional character to have an obituary in the New York Times.

DramaAlpaca · 07/01/2024 01:04

@daisydalrymple I couldn't reread Curtain either.

And I put off watching the TV adaptation until I'd watched all the others, in order. Then I cried too.

Twofurrycats · 07/01/2024 01:24

I have watched every episode of poirot, some more than once, but I have not and will not watch that one. I want poirot to remain eternal waxing his mustache.

Loveablockheel · 07/01/2024 01:40

Bring him back to life and watch episode one immediately and then all will be well in the world, that’s what I did, long live Poirot!

Wendyer · 07/01/2024 01:55

Why does Captain Hastings' daughter seemingly dislike him? Is there a backstory that I've forgotten?!

Curtain is a fabulous book tbf. A really intriguing way of murdering. The TV adaptation does it justice, but yes, horribly sad!
