How much food?

I'm having a party for my 5 year old and don't know how much food to serve. I've invited the whole nursery class so about 25ish kids.

I have a magician and party games. Party is a Sunday afternoon from 2 - 4.

Party is in a local scout hall with an oven and microwave available.

Are you catering for just the kids or for any adults too?

For the kids I’d do two slices of bread as a sandwich each, the equivalent of a packet of crisps each, plus a couple of mini sausage rolls/mini scotch rolls, and two fairy cakes or one fairy cake and a jelly. Plus I’d do some cheese/pineapple and mini sausages on a stick.
Something like that.

Was thinking probably some snacks for parents

Sandwiches are never hugely popular with kids, I'd imagine that if you were to serve 4 quarters each as pp suggested then you will have a lot left uneaten. It does depend a bit on what you serve alongside though. Personally I'd go with 2 quarters each (do a selection of ham or chicken, cheese and jam), but serve warm pizza fingers alongside. (Providing you have someone to help you in the kitchen in case you're tied up in the hall). I'd also do cocktail sausages and maybe chicken nuggets. If you have veggie guests cheese straws might be good, or even just little cubes of cheddar. A selection of crisps, some carrot and cucumber batons. Not the worlds healthiest meal, but it's a birthday party so it doesn't have to be!

Baguettes not sandwiches. Pain in the arse

MadamVastra · 06/01/2024 14:06

Sandwiches always get eaten at the parties I go to! Especially if cut up in quarters 😂

I like the first posters advice

other than that I would buy loads of pizza or do a McDelivery
