Worried

I just done mutual exchange ( both parties living in housing association houses ) and now i'm getting tons of letters from debt collectors for my mutual exchange partner

Strange thing is that process to actually swap homes took about 3-4 months and she had different surname on all papers that were filled . And debt letters have her with her ex husband's surname. They were swapping as a family ( at first ) and the woman had different surname from her husband

Then right before swap was finalised husband asked to be removed from tenancy agreement as they decided to divorce ( or separate)

All debt letters ( i know it's debt agencies by address on the back of letters ) have her as Mrs and her husband's surname somehow.

I'm worried i will somehow get in trouble even though it's nothing to do with me ?

Try not to worry it’s not your mess. Write on the back of all letters ‘not at this address’ and post them straight back. If anyone turns up at the door show them your tenancy agreement and they won’t be able to do anything

i'm worried it's a scam as even when they were married she kept her surname. She never had her husbands surname.
Yet on all the letters ( and i'm getting 10-15 a day ) is her as Mrs ( ex husband surname)

Plus now they won't be able to find her as she is registered at my previous home on different surname.

All this is giving me anxiety , I'm so tempted to open letters and call all of them giving my previous address but i know it's illegal to open someone else's letters .

Maybe i should write my previous address on the back and return them back to debt collectors?

But that also is scary as they will know i did it , maybe they will get angry at me 😭

Send them back it's not your business when and what name she uses, neither is her debt.

true ! don't even know why i'm stressing.
Just send back problem solved , it's just i don't want bailiffs at my door , it's intimidating.

If bailiffs turn up you simply show them ID to prove you aren’t her. If you have information about where she moved onto then pass that along.
