30 Years of The Spice Girls

So 2024 marks The Spice Girls' 30th anniversary, and Royal Mail have honoured their contribution to the British pop scene by producing a set of stamps to commemorate some highlights of their career.

Did they spice up your life - were you ever a fan?
Who was your favourite Spice?
What was your favourite song?

I was never a mega fan (just that bit too old) but I did like a couple of their songs!

Spice Girls' 30th anniversary celebrated in Royal Mail stamp collection

The group join The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Queen, The Rolling Stones and Iron Maiden in being honoured with their own stamps.

At the time I thought they were a load of rubbish. Took the kids to see the Spice world movie, my eyes were bleeding by the end 🤣 they have grown on me over the years though, just wish VB would smile occasionally 😁

I was about 13 when they came out, as it were, and I liked them. One of my Christmas presents was a box of Spice Girls chocolates one year!

@LakeTiticaca
Yeah that's just it, they have definitely grown on me.
Never put myself through the movie though 😜

@CharlottePimpernel laughing at the box of spice girl chocolates!

Wonder how many MNs went to their concerts?

IMO, Viva Forever is a very beautiful song about the melancholy of lost love.

I met Mel C once. She was really nice.

Girl power, put together by a man. Mel C and Emma had some ability, admire Mel B for her work campaigning against domestic violence.

Worst thing was it gave ideas for others such as the Louis Walsh groups and the nadir of them all, Atomic Kitten.

If you want music by women with originality and ability, The Last Dinner Party bring some hope.

I am way too old to be a big fan, but my nieces were, as well as friends dc. I babysat a lot, and also drove them to activities as their mum was ill. Belting out Spice Girls in the car is a fond memory .
edited to add - saw The Last Dinner Party on the news today. They looked interesting, def worth a listen.

Yes I saw The Last Dinner Party on the news this afternoon too, they also mentioned DJ Peggy Gou.
