Well… that really, did the warning system for phones work? Surely someone got a flood alert?

no, probably location specific?

No

No but I also didn’t get the original botched test.

I got one back in October for storm Babet.

Unfortunately it came about midday and my street had been flooded since the early hours of the morning. Sad

I was woken about 10 minutes ago by a strange alarm. I didn't know where it was coming from in my dazed, just woken up state. Thought maybe I could hear ds's alarm but he usually has music.
There's no notification on my phone now but wondering if that's was what I heard.
It was only very brief and then stopped.

I'm in Cornwall by the way.

No, in Nottingham and its bad here.

I don't think anyone's had the alarm they tested for since the test so it seems stupid to have the alert system at all given that it's not been utalised and I'm sure danger of floods was one of the reasons for use listed at the time.

I've had a few met office flood alerts in the past few months but not the actual 'official' alarm.

You can switch it off. Most people I know have deactivated it.

They might as well have not bothered deactivating it if it's not actually going to used. Seems like it was as predicted a giant waste of time and money.

Isn't it usually the Environment Agency that issue flood alerts? I know people in flood zones that regularly get text alerts when the river levels rise.

I thought the Government alerts were for major national events.

The information page on them details weather as something you would get an alert for.
