Black Cast Iron Fireplace - what would you do?

We have a very large bedroom, it has a enormous bay window and then an additional side window. The bedroom also has a black cast iron fireplace.

The problem I have is that with all the windows there really isn't very much wall space for wardrobes or drawers.

I want to rejig it all. The fireplace really doesn't bring anything to the room. I'm thinking of boarding over it to create a larger wardrobe/shoe storage/media area.

The problem is, I just can't reconcile covering it up, it feels so wrong. Even though it would really help with out storage solutions.

We don't have any other spare rooms, I have 5 year old twins who share and my DH using the small room for his office as he WFH

Would you sacrifice the fireplace? The house is 1930's and I'm not sure if it's original or not.

Keep the fireplace.. Build storage and a seating area in the bay window...
Get a dcat or 2 for the window seat..
Imo.
