Unsent birthday card

I've just found the written sealed addressed card I never sent to my good friend last year - early October

We were supposed to meet on her birthday but I got ill.

Do send the card now and plead ignorance ("it got lost in the post" or Bin it )

Friend is one to whom card are very important

Send it - but don’t say it got lost in the post. Own it! Tell her you’ve just found it and that you’re sorry it’s so late. Surely a friend would find that funny rather than be offended?

And offer to take her out for coffee and cake to make up for the lateness.

Message her and arrange to meet up and give her the card in person, hopefully it becomes a funny story in future. Although if you cancelled on her in October I'm surprised you have yet to rearrange meeting up?

Yes I have seen her loads but I found the card in the rear seat door pocket of my car!
