I applied for a few last year and didn't even get an interview 🙃
Is this because they get loads of applications?

Yes we get quite a few. Mostly unsuitable. We even have some apply who are living in different countries.

It's an extremely hard job with lots to learn that is constantly changing for minimum wage and abuse From patients.

Thank you for your reply. Can I just ask do GP receptionists need to know Word, Excel, PowerPoint?

No receptionists do not need to know word, excel or powerpoint, but if you don't you will struggle learning the clinical computer system.

We don’t get a lot of applications when we advertise. In terms of skills, some experience of using word or excel is good but customer service skills are invaluable. Any customer facing experience , whether it’s retail or hospitality or anything else should be highlighted on your application. Good luck - good receptionists are worth their weight in gold.
