Child's Blood Test.... How long for results

So my DD aged 6 had a blood test 21st December. She's under diagnosis for Dyspraxia but hospital wanted to run bloods "just in case" I've been chasing the results this week and have been going round the houses.

Finally the doctors have her results but I need to speak to a Dr about them, the reception staff can't just say all fine like they have done with me on many occasions... Or have more vitamin D ect

Is this normal? Not had blood tests for her before so not sure what to expect and have got myself worked up and in a pickle.

TIA

It’s normal for hospital receptionist/secretaries to not give out any blood test results ime.

Hi OP in my experience (DS has had a couple of blood tests recently) if something is flagged up from the blood test, the GP will call within 2-3 days of having the bloods taken. If the GP doesn’t call and you’re having to chase them up, then that’s usually and hopefully a good sign that everything is ok.

The GP won’t get results of a blood test ordered by the hospital, they may not even know they’ve had a blood test. They may, in a couple of weeks, get sent a letter stating X was seen and had blood test and they were found to be Y, but the GP won’t be calling op at all about her child’s blood tests that were ordered by the hospital. The GP only get blood tests results for tests that they ordered.

Thank you my logical brain is saying it must be ok if they are making me wait.

I think because they were being so cagey on the phone.

Must vary from trust to trust as when I contacted the hospital they kept passing me back to the doctors. The poor staff seem exasperated with the illogical system too, must cause them so much extra work!

All 3 of us had blood tests in November and December. The doctor called me and told me to go for another one in a fortnight; that was a week after the test. Same again after the second.

I had to take our daughter in for her results, which took about a minute. A week to come back.
