Eiffel tower with five year old

We will have an overnight in Paris in the summer and a chance to do something with our one day before getting a train. Is the Eiffel tower suitable for a five year old or should we stick with something like a boat trip on the seine?

They (at 4 and 6) enjoyed the climb up to the second stage and they thought looking through the glass panel set into the floor was great fun but got bored after that. I wouldn't pay for a ticket to the top!

I took my 5yro to the Eiffel Tower (but not up it) and she had a great time. Theres lots to do around the tower - a carousel and a little train for eg. And then you can pick up the Seine ferry boat right there too.

There isn't any point climbing up it imho

Plus even if you have a ticket the queue can take ages and you just waste precious time by being bored and frustrated with an anticlimax

It's lo sky hanging around near it and your DS will be far more interested in the nearby pond where you can hire little boats to play with and watch the ducks swim around

Get tickets for the BATOBUS

It's a taxi boat that stops at 9 relevant stops including the Eiffel Tower only costs €9 for the whole day

You can jump on and off all day between all the stops

I pre bought our tickets online and they download as a QR code which you scan from your phone as you get on the boat and it activates for whatever day you decide to use it.

Here's the link

It's bloody brilliant actually.

And will be a great way to make the most of the one day you have

There is a queue even if you book tickets so just go prepared - if it’s sunny take something like an umbrella to protect from heat and snacks. It is amazing. You don’t need to go to the top, you can do loads on second floor where there is shops etc.

These are the stops at a quick glance

Paris is wonderful for DC because of its wonderful parks so it's worth visiting places near the good ones like the Louvre.

Just walking along the Seine is fabulous because it's vibrant and interesting
