I had a discectomy in December (private ) and they gave me a sickness for 4 weeks. My surgeon said I would need at least 6 weeks of so I do have an appointment to get another sick note

Can anyone tell me how long they had of ?

I work in a high school which can involve a lot of standing, walking (up and down many flights of stairs numerous times a day) for reference
My recovery is going well, although I am steel feeling very tired if I do much, and can also ache if I don't rest enough

I had a similar op at the end of October 2022. I stayed off for about 4-5 weeks and then returned part time, half days on alternate days, then half days everyday and didn't go back full time until after Christmas in January. I was lucky my employer facilitated that gradual return as it made things so much more manageable.

Rushing back will risk your health so where at all possible, pace yourself and take the time.

@Sylver75 thank you for your reply, I do actually work part time, do because of that I'm not sure a phased return would even be possible 😩although I suppose I could ask to start of with half days
