Mumsnet Things You Find Yourself Doing

I am not a proper Mumsnetter. Few things 'give me the ick' or 'the rage'. I am not naice. I never put flowers and toiletries in 'the guest room'. I have no guest room.

But, this morning, I have started to cook lentils so that later I can bulk out the small bag of frozen mince and make cottage pie.

Can I ask you to share similar confessions?

I am struggling to think of anything Mumsnetty I do, apart from being on here too much when I should be doing something else!

I don't clean enough, I use a loo brush, the dog is allowed on the sofa, I am scruffy, what else? I'll let you know if I think of something!

savemytimezone · 03/01/2024 10:51

I don't even have kids!

Exactly this, except it’s the cat on the sofa, and on the bed. I’m good at tidying and clean when it’s needed. Not sure if toilet brushes are de rigour or not but I recently got rid of my flash and expensive one and just give the loo a scrub with a squirty cleaner and a cloth.

I could make myself sound like a mn cliche, 2 dc, both with 'expensive' hobbies.
I clean the loos & kitchen daily and keep on top of the rest of the house.
I cook from scratch a lot.
I shower daily, I wash clothes after one wear.

I am also the exact opposite of a mn cliche because I am piss poor, live oop North and work full time for not much money.

I do laugh at myself sometimes when I am pottering about wondering what mn would think about what I am doing 🤣

LenaLamont · 10/04/2024 13:29

I could tell you all the Mumsnetty things I do, but that would be outing…

StandingOvulation · 10/04/2024 13:41

I'm having a giant salad at lunchtime using up some more of the chicken that I cooked in lockdown.

Riapia · 10/04/2024 13:47

I never ‘grab’ a coffee.
Never ‘throw’ anything into the oven.
Nobody has ever ‘screamed’ in my face, not even MIL.
I have never done a ‘head tilt and tinkly laugh’ at anybody.

I’m a disgrace to MN.

OriginalUsername2 · 10/04/2024 13:56

I’ve never said “No” without adding something to the sentence to fill it out.

Limth · 10/04/2024 14:03

I once used an amended version of "Did you mean to be so rude?" out in the wild.

I have a good skincare routine.
I don't have a loo brush.
I batch cook.
I have a well-paid job.
I had a £200 register office marriage with just friends there.

There are also lots of ways in which I'm not a walking MN cliche, including being child-free 😁

MelonSmoothie · 10/04/2024 14:04

I could probably eat a whole chicken by myself in one sitting, rather than make it last a week and 10 meals.

Peclet · 10/04/2024 14:09

Just had a massive salad from scratch.
Batch cook
Ski
independent schools
loo brush (sorry)
that scarf (10 years ago)
meno confidence/rage. No fucks given

But does your DH have an outing hobby?🧐😜

DahliaMacNamara · 10/04/2024 14:10

I have a DH with a hobby that I couldn't possibly mention, for fear of exposure. Someone might identify that yes, it is I, the real life Dahlia, who watches soaps and does the Wordle. The pieces fall into place. Oh my.

No dammit 🤣
I also enjoy far too many glasses of wine (rather than the mn thimbleful of sherry at Christmas)

MsMajeika · 10/04/2024 15:26

Like a PP, I also used "did you mean to be so rude?" out in the wild. It turns out I had misheard her and she hadn't meant to be rude at all, so the joke was on me.

I bought a roast chicken last night that will definitely feed the 4 of us all week.

I have a loo brush and bin proudly dispalyed in the bathroom (does that make me MNy or not?!)

Nocturna · 10/04/2024 15:30

No but I should be, I might stop opening the door
