Is everyone rich?

Is it just me or is everyone minted? I think I’m the only one of my friends bar a sahm who isn’t on over £100k?! We were talking about kids free hours and we seem to be the only family able to qualify, everyone else earns too much.

My partner earns £38k and is by far the lowest earner I know.
I come from merseyside, it’s not like any of us come from money.

When did everyone get so rich?
And yes I’m totally jealous!

For me, 'richness' is about disposable income

I kind of agree. This is going to sound bonkers but my dh is in the top 2% and with all our outgoings (mortgages, school fees, bills) and the hikes in interest rates I honestly don’t feel particularly rich atm.
We have a lovely home, buy nice food and eat out etc but we’re certainly not rolling in dough at the moment. No exotic holidays for a good few years, can’t afford repairs on the house, I recently had to downgrade my car and we’re having to be very careful until the interest rates (hopefully) go down.

It’s all relative. To the outside world we probably look very wealthy but no one knows what goes on behind closed doors do they? Some of the people you’re referring to may be in loads of debt op.

I think it is unless you’re on the family WhatsApp group where it’s all peloton, new cars (Audi and Tesla) foreign holidays, nanny’s and housekeepers 😂. Can’t knock her for what she’s achieved but it is like someone in your family winning the lottery (and as I say my other sister in over £100k…..). They’re not generous to me with it but obviously not expecting them to be!
It was a lot of hard work, the force of her personality (which again not always quite so simple in a family setting) and a lot of luck!
