This is a vegan thing isn’t it? It’s not real- they’re just trying to make a point.

I know 😁
Unfortunately the pictures aren't of real dog meat either.

Unfortunately? 🤔

kikisparks · 02/01/2024 22:29

Yeah no different than pig meat is it? I wouldn’t eat either of them.

I'm not being serious but it would help their cause.

or chicken
or rabbit (but I know a lot don't eat rabbit)
or lamb

If you are not a vegetarian - and I am not, though I don't each much meat - what animal it comes from is technically irrelevant.

I have no problem eating meat but prefer to eat a small amount of meat from animals that have been given a decent a life as possible.

If we all turned vegetarian then sheep, pigs and cows would quickly become rare. No-one could afford to care for animals on a large without a financial return. Animals bred for meat would just die out - is that any better?

OhnowIUnderstand · 02/01/2024 22:36

I’ve seen this on SM. A lot of people are appalled at eating dogs, I don’t see the difference if you eat other animals. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Except meat of carnivorous species apparently doesn’t taste nice

Dogs can have a vegan diet, I think - don’t know if that would improve the taste at all.

Can’t do much about cat meat, though.

Theyre not appalled in case it doesn’t taste nice. They’re appalled because it is a dog.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 02/01/2024 22:44

I prefer Gregg’s British Miracle Meat personally.
Actually, both my DDs (when I showed them the docu, waiting to see their reaction) said ‘Yeah, so what?, would rather humans ate other humans than animals’. Didn’t have the shock effect the program makers might have hoped for here. But I get the point of this mock up and I agree largely, not much difference between a dog and a pig. But I do speak as someone (along with DDs) who works at a rescue with many beautiful intelligent pigs, amongst other animals.

is that any better?

What difference would it make to the animal?

DyslexicPoster · 02/01/2024 22:57

I think personally if you eat meat then some nice animal has died. So on that basis I couldn't complain if someone eats dogs or cats. Sorry. They are all sentient beings. I do eat meat. I try not to eat very much. If you eat meat i think you know what happens in a slaughter house

Yes I do think it’s better that as a species they “die out”. There are billions of farmed animals killed each year. Cows, sheep and pigs are not natural species. Some breeds of cows are bred to overproduce milk, sheep are bred to not naturally shed their wool, chickens used for meat gain too much weight too fast and suffer unable to stand, farmed pigs have similar issues. Surely it would be better to rewild the fields and encourage natural biodiversity?

ChodeOfChodHall · 03/01/2024 07:43

Nah. There would always be some cunt moaning about shooting wild animals for human sustenance.

FingersCrossedFor2024 · 03/01/2024 07:46

If you are going to try to make this sort of comparison for shock value at least try to be factual. It can’t be both organic AND caged breeding.

Probably not billions of people would do that though- most people probably wouldn’t kill an animal these days. I know a lot of meat eaters horrified at the idea of watching how the animals are killed.

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/01/2024 07:57

Not a lot of good eating on a pug.

Some cultures do eat dog mear. I, a meat eater, wouldn't because ... well... have you met dogs? They are digusting.
