Hello

I'm trying to organise a night away for my husband and I to visit Yorkshire Sculpture Park and Nostell Priory and would love recommendations for a lovely hotel near the 2.

TIA

Another vote for Waterton!
Really beautiful place.

That's a good sign that the first 2 replies are for the same place. Is the restaurant any good?

Waterton is nice - v welcoming staff and the spa looks lovely, (although I didn't use it).

We were put on the island, I'm not sure how they allocate rooms as we didn't state a preference, but I'm glad we were there. It's quite 'old school' - shabby chic. We liked it though. The rooms were big. Really nice views over the water.

I would say the restaurant is decent enough pub food - not fine dining.

There is a pool but again, it is rather work-a-day. Perfectly fine for a short swim but not luxury (and locals use it for swimming lessons).

I know it is very popular with weddings, so I would personally avoid a Saturday night just in case.

Be careful at the sculpture park if you go at this time of year as it’s very muddy. I went yesterday and was quite dressed up as I wanted to look arty/cool. I thought it would be safe to ignore a closed path sign as it looked less wet (and more interesting) than the main path. The condition was terrible and I ended up slipping over. I was completely covered in mud and my day was ruined. Wear wellies or walking boots.
