January survival thread

Hi MN

Inspired by the current Jan blues thread, I thought I'd start a list of things I intend to do to make January a little more bearable. Feel free to share your own and hopefully make the month a little less dull.

  1. Eat and drink some of my favorite festive food and drink in moderation.
  2. Somewhat contradictory to no 1, eat more healthily and get moving again.
  3. Light my Christmassy/wintery scented candles. Scents are so evocative and the lights are much needed once the fairy lights come down
  4. indulge in some self care with new products that were Christmas gifts
  5. Get back into my winter evening routine of bath, bed, book and getting back into a decent sleeping pattern.

Oh I love this thread already. I like to enjoy January so I'll be keeping my fairylights, getting good exercise and making sure my nights are nurturing (skincare pjs reading and good telly)

Love this. I'm trying to get outside every day when it is not actually throwing it down with rain. I hate rain. But I like to be outdoors and it does me good.

I'm trying to up my self care -

moisturiser every night after bath ,

religiously take my supplements instead of taking them when I remember

We eat well but even more veg

Try to up my steps

Read my book every day and less scrolling on my phone

Aiming to read 30 books this year

Buy less but enjoy more experiences together with Dh

Spend less- save more and think about what we are spending rather than wasting money

I'm in - I think self care and getting back to a good sleep and eating routine. And also taking a sandwich to work so cut down on spending.

Thanks for the additions, I really needed to look over these again today! It's such a cold, grey day and I'm feeling despondent!

Whenever I’m out, I look for signs of spring. The bulbs that I planted very late are coming up, and not far away several big mimosa trees are covered with buds that will soon be out.

By the end of January it’s noticeable that the days are getting longer. I noticed it particularly when I used to finish work at 5 - the difference between the end of Jan and just pre-Christmas December was very marked.
