Cat cafes access - anyone been?

Hi, I would like to take my disabled DS (can't do stairs) to one of those but a few I looked at online say they are on more than one floor and don't have lifts.

Has anyone been? Did you enjoy it?
Any maybe located on one floor? Or with a lift? Although I expect the cats and lifts in not a viable mix?

Anywhere south of York & east of Weymouth would work for us.

Have you spoken to Leeds Kitty Cafe? It’s all ground floor.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 02/01/2024 09:45

We went to the Nottingham kitty cafe a couple of months ago and that was all ground floor, did need to book in advance though so just check that.

CormorantStrikesBack · 02/01/2024 09:46

Yes Nottingham would be fine

Tabby Teas Cat Cafe in Sheffield is on the ground floor with a drop off area for cars outside.

This isn't ideal, but if you are able to bend your needs a little. There is a cat cafe in York that may be suitable. It has two steps inside the entrance, and has more than one floor. But if you can manage to negotiate the two entrance steps, you could comfortably remain on the large ground floor for your while visit - I did this and the experience wasn't diminished by remaining downstairs. If you are interested let me know and I will dig out the name of it. GL

The Nottingham one is all one floor.

Vinorosso74 · 02/01/2024 10:47

There is one in London which is accessible. There is a downstairs but most or all of the cats are upstairs whenever I've been.
It's called Whiskers and Cream on Holloway Road.

CeeJay81 · 02/01/2024 10:47

Shrewsbury has a lovely one. Maybe too far for you though.

There is 3 cats cafes that i know in kent 2 of those has stairs but one of those doesnt as only for staffs and cats to go upstairs

if you talk or ask staffs at the cat cafe especially the Cosy Cat Cafe and Canterbury Tails they will do help to make sure you all are safe and welcome without going upstairs.

RainbowWilf996 · 02/01/2024 10:55

Other one is in Tonbridge called Paws Cat Cafe good place there too

autumn1610 · 02/01/2024 10:58

Think someone has already said it but Tabby Teas in Sheffield is on one floor. There maybe a couple of steps though

CrystalTits · 02/01/2024 10:58

Hi OP, how about the cat cafe in Romsey (Hants)? Not too far for you to travel: Paws for Thought cat cafe

edited to add - I'm pretty sure it’s all on ground floor level.

Azure · 02/01/2024 11:00

Westfield London White City has one on the ground floor. Haven't been so don't know about accessibility but Westfield parking is good.

missmumma · 02/01/2024 11:02

I second paws for thought in romsey, lovely cafe and all on one floor

IDoLikeToBeByTheSea · 02/01/2024 11:05

West of York but Café Meow in Blackpool is brilliant. All one level with plenty of space. All cats (bar a few residents) are available for rehoming too

premiur · 02/01/2024 11:31

I came to say cafe meow in Blackpool!!

My top tip is to try and get early - we took the first booking time and after the hour a lot of the cats had given up and gone for a sleep already! They were full of zoomies when we arrived though

BloodandGlitter · 02/01/2024 11:32

The Nottingham Cat Cafe has an absolutely awful reputation for both how they treat people and cats so you might want to avoid it.

OohMrDarcy · 02/01/2024 11:35

There is one in Romsey Hampshire which is I think all on ground floor - we've been a couple of times

dcadmamagain · 02/01/2024 12:01

Whereabouts do you live - the area from York to south is vast! There are lots of cat cafes about but I don’t think travelling to one more than an hour away is viable

YogaLite · 02/01/2024 13:20

Thank you, especially for Romsey recommendation and for recommendation of getting there early, we have a connection with the area but never knew about it.

We are in the south but I am hoping to make it a short break, although Romsey can be done in a day so that's even better.

My first thought was Canterbury but that's on more than one floor.
