Top tips to get a good work like balance

I work in a mid level job and earn approx £45k a year! I am a single parent to a 5 year old boy! I suffer from anxiety and over thinking with regard to my job, and it is only having 13 days off over Christmas that has made me realise how much work anxiety affects my day to day life! I do enjoy my work, but I need to get better at leaving work at work when I shut down my laptop for the day/weekend! Would love to hear everyone's top tios for a better work life balance! Everyone I know works after and before their hours and even at weekends.

I don't know but it's my resolution as well.

Things I'm going to try:

Schedule in a brain dump at 4.45 to get everything out my brain and then go for a walk. To get the time to go for a walk I need to meal plan and prep either the night before or in the morning. I also go to the gym every morning for 6 am so putting more in my mornings won't realistically work. I can work from home to make this happen - but being a fellow single parent - it's actually nice to be in the office around other humans.

I work late one evening a week, have a regular standing walk with a friend another and have a weekly date night with my boyfriend.. fitting everything in and not going over conversations in my head whilst trying to go to sleep is going to be hard! Will be pinching any good ideas!

Oh my gosh are you my kindred spirit! You sound like super woman, I defo need to take lunch breaks and I love the idea is a 4.45pm finish to plan ahead and brain dump! X

I'm definitely not super women. I became really rundown as I overworked myself sept/dec. I'm going to make sure I take back my life after work. I am trying the 6am gym starts.. before I'd go after work but I'd use work as an excuse not to go! I also really need to get on top of cooking again instead of grabbing easy but expensive food.

I really need to stop going over or creating conversations in my head. It's not doing me any good. I hope writing what I want to say and then going for a walk will get it out!

If I can manage this then maybe I will manage to actually take my lunchbreak on of these days! I don't know why I don't! If I wfh I could start going for yet more walks 🙄 or maybe I need to make my lunchbreak fun! My job is actually really interesting and I love it. Maybe it's about making my lunchbreak and after work more fun!
