Champneys spa Access

We are going to a black tie event in February at a champneys hotel. They are asking for 60 pp to be able to access the pool etc which seems absolutely ridiculous. Has anyone done this and how do they knwo if you've paid, do yuou get a wristband or something? TIA

Presumably they'll have a way of controlling who can access the pool and other areas of the spa that are chargable, such as a staffed entrance/reception desk where they have a list of those who have booked and paid. I've been to a couple of Champneys and would say they are quite tightly controlled. I'd be surprised if you could just wander into the pool without checking in.

But for £60 for pool-only access is just stupid. Even if you spent all day in there 😂

Doesn't sound unreasonable to me. I've just been looking at spas for a gift and access only for pool/sauna/steam room type thing is up to £195 for half a day.

Checking again that's for 3 hours. Similar prices at lots of spas in hotels and stand alone spa venues

I've only been to champneys to go to the spa, but they give you a robe to wear when you check in. I'm guessing if you don't pay £60 they won't give you a robe. There are members not wearing the robes in the spa area but they tend to be known by name by most of the staff so I think they'd quickly realise you weren't supposed to be there
