Well-being Intentions For January

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 01/01/2024 04:18

How do you intend to try and make January mindful and meaningful with a focus on mental and physical wellbeing?

What things will you try to bring into your days that enhance your wellbeing?

I have a chronic pain illness so want to focus on stretches that help my flexibility, i love sensory things so will use candles, try to read more and eat more healthily.

Am looking for inspiration:-)

Buying less stuff definitely improves my well-being. I've been on a low buy for 3 months, and hopefully, this goes well into 2024.

I've started making sourdough bread. It's fun learning the process, and it tastes so good.

Meditation 10 minutes before sleeping.

EspressoMacchiato · 01/01/2024 07:52

We’re hoping to move this year so radical declutterring is on the books.

Speaking of books, I read 45 last year and want to see if I can beat that number.

Swim more and watch less tv.

HottestEverRecordedTemperature · 01/01/2024 07:54

I have a couple of autoimmune diseases and arthritis so am in chronic pain. This year I am hoping to make small incremental changes that will last. So for January I am planning to;

  1. Follow a mediterranean inspired diet- really focus hard on fruit, vegetables, lean fish, whole grains and almost entirely exclude alcohol to 1-2 glasses red wine a week
  1. Walk 15 minutes a day

This morning I have had yoghurt and fruit compote made up of 3 types of berries cooked in a little honey and topped with almond flakes.

Stretching/yoga
Walking
More fruit & veg.
More intuitive eating
Getting enough sleep
Being mindful of my posture

My new year's resolution is to cook one new healthy recipe a week that I've never made before, so I'm looking forward to reading recipes for ideas and trying new things.

I'm reducing alcohol to two alcoholic drinks per week and will probably have one glass of wine on a Saturday and one on a Sunday.

I'm being really consistent taking my vitamins every day with my morning coffee.

I'm going to eat a piece of fruit with breakfast and another one with lunch every day and make vegetables/pulses the key component of my evening meal.

I'm enjoying using nice body lotion after showers, being consistent with a skincare routine and having hand cream, foot cream and lip balm by my chair in the evenings so I apply them when watching TV.

I bought a nutribullet

When I'm being healthy, I put in some frozen berries, one of those cheap wonky avocados, seeds, apple, spinach and blend it with cranberry juice

5+ in one breakfast smoothie

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 01/01/2024 13:54

@Mercurial123 definitely yes to meditation , this really helps me . I struggle making time for it but need to commit to even just a short practice.

@EspressoMacchiato 40+ books is impressive!

It's definitely my goal to read more books and do less doom scrolling.

I have Parkinson’s and recently started aqua fit and oesopath to help sort right knee( bad fall in June). Yes, it’s painful, now mid stage , 6 years in
Having a membership for swimming pool, investment tho

newstart24 · 01/01/2024 14:33

I’m aiming to do the following in 2024:

  • Give up alcohol for 3 months. I drank heavily over Christmas and am feeling sluggish and unwell today. I really need a complete detox.

  • Continue decluttering the house to help my mental health, and keep it organised and tidy on a daily basis. I want everything in my home to be beautiful and/or useful - being surrounded by mess and junk is so energy depleting. I made a start on this last year and got rid of about 8 black bags of stuff from upstairs alone.

  • Save as much money as possible - my ultimate goal is to have 20k in savings.

Gnomegnomegnome · 01/01/2024 14:40

Drink more water

Yoga with Adrienne

Be more consistent with vitamins

Increase gym from 3 to 4 days

Dry January

Save

AthenaWhite · 01/01/2024 15:50

Try for another dry year. I started last year with dry January but just kept going. Life is easier without alcohol.

I'm back into books so I aim to read more and try to do a digital detox one day a week.

I love walking and yoga but I want to do both more often.

Try to get up at 5 each morning and fit a pre work walk and/or yoga session in.

Visit the people I love more.

Spend less and value what I have.

Declutter and only keep what I love.

Try to do something about my sugar intake.

I've started a fresh bullet journal today and filled it with intentions and goals.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 01/01/2024 16:08

@newstart24 i love the either being useful or beautiful idea !

I started at the gym a few weeks back, went low fat in June, I've embraced going to bed early. I'm doing the dry january. And I've just returned to the 16:8.

Gnomegnomegnome · 01/01/2024 18:42

@IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls I sorted my vitamins into my pill box yesterday so hopefully I’ll remember to take them if I put it beside the kettle and take a them in the morning.
