Had anyone ever bought a holiday home they rented a week or so and did it continue to bring the same romance to your life?

It brought bills, debt, double the council rates etc. and more upkeep as well as increased mental load of which place needed what and when.
Also, didn’t rent it out but DD1 now lives there and pays nominal rent.
If I had my time again, I would just book a hotel room and save the money.
No romance

Yes- we love ours!

Currently spending the Christmas hols there with DH and the kids and it's our home away from home.

We've been coming to the area a long time though so we're certain it's what we wanted to do.

Also forgot to mention, we don't rent out so I love that we are able to go away as and when we feel like it (at least 2-3 weekends a month).

Especially this time do the year when things are slower, it's lovely to walk on the beach with the kids etc.

Nope, even if I had the money I would feel concerned about the reactions from the locals (understandably).

I bought a holiday home in 2003. It is not allowed by the leasehold to be used as a permanent address.
It's been great and much used by us and now DC. Not been rented out.
It just makes weekends seem so so long - a real break from the work world of home.

I do the majority of my spending in the area now as I prefer it to home area tbh. I'll be moving to the area when I retire
