Is anyone else’s teen at home with them tonight?

My older teen is perfectly happy being in tonight (I think) but I feel sad somehow. School just didn’t really work for them socially and they aren’t really one for clubbing but I somehow feel deeply sad that a 19 year old is home with her parents on NYE - I know I need to get over it.

Anyone else feel like this or reassure me?

Dd is 23 and live with friends about an hour away from us.

She came home for Christmas and decided to stay for NY as well. I sort of wanted her to go out and enjoy herself with friends but they weren't going out either and are home with their own parents.

Ds is 19 and out with friends.

Ds 18 is home with us and said several of his mates are just staying in with family.

It’s still evening here in the US. DD (18) is going over to a friend’s later for a small party, but she doesn’t particularly want to go, she’d rather have a glass of bubbly with us!

DS (15) will be watching American football with DH, good games on today for football fans!

I don't think I had many NYE at home as a teenage, from the age of about 17 until I was heavily pregnant with my DS at 28 which was probably the first one I'd spend with them since being 17. Whether it was clubbing or at various boyfriends houses.. I think I spent most NYE's out somewhere or another.

But as above posters have said - I don't think this generation of teens/early 20s are that fussed about going out. Maybe the rise of social media as they feel connected without going out? Who knows. But I worked with girls ages 16-25ish in the past year and a lot of them didn't go out half as much as I did at that age/

I used to adore NYE with my mum in my teens. I’m in my forties now and would cherish another nye with my mum who is now in her 70s and a bit disinterested. I think it’s a special time to spend with family whatever their ages

My 16 year old son is home.

There are a couple of parties going on but there's generally a lot of drink involved and the police end up being called as they get out of hand (they are advertised on social media and kids from outside the area turn up)!

I didn't want my boy going and neither did his friend's mum. So his friend is stopping here the night.

All three of mine are at home and are perfectly happy

My 22 year old and her boyfriend are out on the piss at a party - with DH and I. I’ve crashed and come to bed, DH and DD are still going strong

My 18 year old is at home with her boyfriend and a couple of friends looking after the dog. She is autistic and isn’t a lover of crowded pubs and loud parties so she wanted to stay home.

Ok thank you all this is really helping

Ot feels like all her ex-school
peers are out pubbing and clubbing and I know I was at her age so it’s hard not to feel she’s missing out

But I guess there’s more than one way to be 18

She's got all her 20s and 30s for going out yet!

She's not even got started!
